Helen’s Asian Kitchen Tofu Press easily squeezes water from tofu without it breaking or crumbling apart. Pressed tofu results in an improved texture and taste. Once water has been removed, tofu acts like a sponge to absorb more flavor from dressings, marinades, and sauces. With less water content, tofu spatters less during the cooking process. The press features specially designed drain channels that help direct water away from the tofu so it doesn’t get reabsorbed. It works equally well laying flat or on its side. It’s super easy to use. Simply loosen the locking knobs and raise the top drainboard. Lay tofu between the drainboards and place the press onto a dish or in a pan. Tighten each locking knob equally to squeeze water out from the tofu, through the drain channels, and into the catch pan. Once desired tofu texture is achieved, follow recipe instructions. Helen Chen’s Tofu Press is made from polypropylene and 18/8 stainless steel. It’s easy to use and store (measures 8.5 x 5 x 6-inches). Easy one-time assembly. There’s no need to disassemble for cleaning. Simply hand wash the whole press in warm, soapy water.
